Veterans Family Day

We are delighted to share some exciting news. On Saturday, 11 October, Black Bearing Events will be opening the gates of Black Bearing Ranch for a vibrant Veterans Family Day, and we are proud to be partnering with them.

As a UK-based, veteran-led claims management company, it is a privilege to support an event dedicated to the well-being of our community. The day is designed to give veterans, serving personnel, and their families the chance to rekindle relationships and enjoy time together, while also offering on-the-spot support through hearing tests for former members of the armed forces.

Set against the backdrop of Black Bearing Ranch, the event will bring people together in a welcoming atmosphere with live music, family activities, and expert-led hearing tests. Aside from certain food and drink items, everything is completely free of charge.

For us, this is about more than a day out. It is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be a veteran, to stand alongside families, share experiences, and strengthen the bonds that hold our community together.

What To Expect on the Day

Veterans Family Day at Black Bearing Ranch has been designed to feel like a festival for families to come together in a spirit of community, with something for everyone to enjoy:

  • Live country music to set the atmosphere throughout the day.
  • A traditional hog roast, bringing people together over food.
  • A veteran’s trade market, showcasing businesses run by former service personnel, including Trident Military Cigars, Lockwood Premium British Smocks, Combat Clipper, Gibraltar Trading Company, Dry Trek and Hawk K9.
  • Outdoor activities for children, including bushcraft, ensure the event is as much for the families of veterans as it is for the veterans themselves.
  • A licensed bar.
  • Axe throwing for adults.

Free Hearing Tests

One of the most important aspects of Veterans Family Day is the opportunity for former service personnel to access free hearing tests. Hearing loss is one of the most common injuries faced by those who have served, with prolonged exposure to gunfire, explosions, heavy machinery and training environments leaving lasting effects long after service ends.

Noise-induced hearing loss is not just a medical issue; it can affect daily life, communication, and the ability to stay connected with loved ones. Yet many veterans delay seeking help, often due to uncertainty about where to turn or a reluctance to prioritise their own needs.

We want to remove those barriers. Our team will be on hand to conduct hearing assessments, answer questions, and provide clear guidance on the steps that can be taken, including support in checking your eligibility for a claim. For those who may have a valid claim, we can begin the process on-site, helping them receive the support and recognition they deserve.

If you think you may be affected, this is your chance to speak directly with a veteran-led team that understands the challenges you face,  because we have faced them too.

Why This Day Means So Much to Us

As Richard Spence, the former Army Officer, Founding Member and Senior Veteran Advisor here at Veterans for Veterans, explains: “Our families are the foundation that we stand on to enable us to go and do the difficult jobs we do. This day is about celebrating them as much as us.”

We’re proud to have many former armed forces personnel on our team and  we understand the challenges of military life first-hand. Veterans Family Day is not only a chance to recognise the service of those in uniform, but also to honour the families whose support makes that service possible.

Community and Connection

Events like this provide a safe haven where veterans and their families can relax, reconnect, and feel part of a community that understands them.

As James from Black Bearing Events explains, the vision behind the day is simple: “We want to bring the veteran community and their families together to provide a great day out in a relaxing environment. The ranch is a safe haven for ex-military, and we want to draw attention to the work we do here.”

This ethos lies at the heart of Veterans Family Day, creating a space where veterans and their loved ones can come together, find support, and enjoy the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a community.

For many, the main focus is connection: whether that’s meeting up with old friends, introducing children to service networks, or just sharing a laugh in the sun. Veterans, current service members, families, and supporters are all welcome.

We Can’t Wait For You To Join Us

We are thrilled at the prospect of you joining us at Black Bearing Ranch for what promises to be a brilliant day, filled with camaraderie, laughter and fun. The Veterans Family Day is the perfect opportunity to share stories with fellow veterans, mingle with those who have had similar experiences, and bring the family along for some much-needed fun and excitement.

Why not make the day more practical and partake in our free hearing tests? Noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most common injuries among former military personnel, and many veterans overlook it as a crucial part of their health. As our on-site hearing tests are completely free, it’s the perfect time to address any hearing issues. If any problems are uncovered, we are also offering guidance, answering any questions and helping with a potential claim. We have a plethora of experience dealing with these types of claims; it’s what we do, so we really can help. It’s an opportunity that’s too good to pass up.

Furthermore, the event itself is free to attend, so it would be great to see you all there. Excited? We can’t wait to see you.
